Practical checklist
Card benefits and travel insurance: which claim comes first?
There is no single filing order we can apply to every card and travel insurance plan. Read both sets of coordination terms and confirm the process with their administrators. Having two policies does not mean two payments for the same expense.
What should I ask each administrator?
Explain the other coverage and ask which benefit is primary or excess for this loss, whether another claim decision is needed, and what evidence to keep. Payment priority and notice deadlines are separate questions.
Should I wait for one claim to finish?
Check each notice deadline promptly. Ask whether to open a claim while another administrator reviews it; do not assume that waiting for a settlement extends the other policy’s deadline.
How do I record airline assistance?
List each expense and any voucher, refund or insurance payment that relates to it. Disclose those amounts and preserve settlement or denial records. An unpaid balance is not automatically an eligible expense.
What can BenefitMyTrip determine?
Our questionnaire checks modeled card trip-delay conditions. Reporting purchased insurance adds next steps; it does not assess that policy, decide payment priority or calculate a combined payout. The administrators determine coverage under the applicable terms.
